On September 11, 2015 the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center (http://gacc.nifc.gov/nwcc/) reported that there were 13 active fires in eastern Washington still burning that have destroyed over a million acres and that nearly 7,000 firefighters were working to put out the flames that have destroyed about 200 homes and 150 other structures. The people and animals are still being impacted by the devastation.
To support those in need, a concert to benefit fire victims will be presented by the Issaquah Singers on Sunday, September 27 at 2:00pm at Faith Methodist Church, 3924 Issaquah Pine Lake Road, Issaquah. Admission is by donation. Due to the generous sponsorship of Faith United Methodist Church, all the money collected will be donated to agencies serving those impacted by the fires. Those unable to attend the concert may mail donations to Issaquah Singers, P.O. Box 387, Issaquah, WA 98027.
Guest artists Dr. Duane Bowen and Velma Walker will perform with Issaquah Singers. Dr. Bowen is a retired music professor at Eastern New Mexico University and former conductor of the Issaquah Philharmonic Orchestra. Velma Walker is the pianist and music director for the Community Church of Issaquah where she and Dr. Bowen regularly perform.
